The Serra do Geres is the second highest point in mainland Portugal, reaching 1546 meters at the Nevosa Peak, near the border with Galicia. It is part of the mountain system of the Peneda-Geres and it's included in the area of the Peneda-Gerês National Park. Apart from the natural beauty (ponds, spas, waterfalls), the mountain trails and adventure sports, one of the attractions is the Shrine of St. Benedict of the Open Door, a place of religious pilgrimage. Another highlight is the Rio Caldo's marina, which offers excellent facilities for boating practices. You can visit this mountain in the district of Braga.
