The accommodation

Cal Domino is a detached villa with heated infinity pool, jacuzzi and sauna with panoramic views of the coastline and set within its own fenced garden. Based in the foothills of the Gavarres Massif (a 38,000 Ha national park), it overlooks the medieval village of Calonge and its 10th century castle. It is situated just 3.5 km from the Costa Brava giving privacy, peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of the seafront. The house consists of three double bedrooms (one en-suite) and one twin room. It has three bathrooms, two lounges and terraces with views. The house has a 4x8 heated infinity pool with views, an exterior heated Jacuzzi spa and sauna. The house is fully fenced and very private ensuring that you are not overlooked by the neighbours. One bedroom has air conditioning, the rest have fans and mosquito screens. The house is orientated facing southeast ensuring that the rooms have time to cool down in the afternoons before bedtime and enjoy the natural sea breezes.

Setting

The Gavarres Massif is a 38,000 Ha protected woodland stretching from the Costa Brava all the way to Girona (35km away). Our elevated and privileged location offers outstanding panoramic views of the coast and mountains. Our nearest Village is Calonge which hosts two supermarkets and bars and restaurants. We recommend a car when visiting Cal Domino and we are serviced by Girona airport (35 km) Barcelona Intl (110 km) and Girona train station with AVE (40 km).

Activities and attractions

This region is best known for its blue-flagged beaches, hiking trails specifically in the Gavarres hills and the Cami de Ronda (coastal walk) as well as mountain biking and hiking along the Via Verde and pirinexus (connecting routes), road cycle training with over a dozen professional teams based in the Girona region and golf with the half a dozen international standard courses within 40km of the Villa including the Catalunya PGA. Further afield, we have hiking and mountain biking in the low and high Pyrenees and skiing all through the winter with half a dozen ski resorts which can be easily reached by car for a days skiing. The Gavarres and alt Empordá region are full of medieval villages, neolithic ruins, roman and greek ruins which can be visited all through the year. The Roman city of Girona is our region's capital and the town of Figueres to the north hosts the Dali Museum and San Ferran, the best preserved Napoleonic fortress in Europe.The many little seaside villages are perfect for long lazy lunches beside the Mediterranean Sea, including the prettiest cove on the Costa Brava, Aïguablava and the busy little village of Cadaques where Dali spent his childhood. The Illes de Medes offers excellent diving in one of Spain's biggest marine reserves as well as snorkeling, kite surfing, sailing, free swimming, paddleboard all along the coast. Also, in another of Spain's biggest wetland national parks, we have Aïguamols which you can visit for the day.
