Setting

Crossing the entrance walls to the old town is like taking a leap into the past, and I do not think this just because I have always visited Sansepolcro when there was the Palio della Balestra, but mainly because the style of the buildings and streets of the center, although restored over the centuries, still maintains the pattern of past eras.

Activities and attractions

Sansepolcro has an ideal position to move to different places of art nearby: Sansepolcro, Gubbio, Città di Castello, Monterchi, Anghiari, Arezzo, Montone; not particularly distant Florence and Siena just an hour and a half drive, as Urbino. Places full of works of art, from museums to churches, to palaces; it ranges from the Romanesque to the Middle Ages, to the Renaissance. Each of these places has never-ending events, from exhibitions, to festivals, to patron festivals, to markets (in particular, the antiques market in Arezzo, a wonderful city.)
Not to be missed: Piazza Grande, Arezzo, Madonna del Parto fresco, Monterchi, Palazzo Ducale, Gubbio.
