Houses only 99 meters from the beach

A lovely property in a good location. The house, location and amenities are as described. The house is comfortable and quite easy to access; it is also private in a gated community. The owner Margarita welcomed us nicely and showed us quickly around the property. We were not asked for a deposit and were told to phone or email if there were any problems or questions; we did need to contact her over a small matter and she responded promptly. Margarita was lovely to deal with, responding quickly throughout the booking from beginning to end. She was easy to contact and not intrusive during the holiday. We were trusted and that was a really nice feature about this accommodation. The house is modern and fairly well equipped, even a teapot for our cup of tea! It has a garden area and a covered patio which was welcome place when it got too hot. The swimming pool was easy to access and was secured for the owners and tenants of the properties in the community; in the times we used the pool it was rarely busy, it was also clean and well maintained. The beach is easy to access too, although it is located down a hill and steps. This is a popular resort so the beach area was fairly busy on hot days but still pleasant. It is supervised well but does have rocks around the bay further into the sea so caution is needed (on less calm days the sea can be quite rough and exhilarating!). To the left of the harbour area there is a rocky type of bay which is great for rock pooling and when the tide is out there is a place to swim too. We caught a load of crabs and returned them and even a small fish on some cured meat. Comillas is a small, very attractive and also a very busy town. It has three supermarkets for self catering and also loads of restaurants offering a variety local fare. We found some great places. The town centre is only a 10 minute walk from the house, but the road is quite busy and narrow in places. The local bar El Faro is friendly, opens at 10 in the morning and serves until late, serves great food and has WiFi available. It is just a short walk from the house and we went there most mornings for coffee and fresh croissants. Despite the language difficulties (ours) we were never made to feel unwelcome. They accommodated our needs well. Comillas is easy to walk around and has some interesting places to visit including El Capricho, a house designed by Goudi. Information on the internet suggests it is also open as a restaurant but this is n longer the case. I have no hesitation in recommending the house or resort. There are some great local attractions. We went white water rafting at Bustisor (excuse the spelling), to the 200 foot waterfall at Ason, the wildlife park near Santander and numerous trips into the mountains or along the coastline. The mountain passes are wonderful and views great. Hope you enjoy as much as we have.

We spend a fantastic week in Comillas - a family group of 3 generations, 20 persons spread in all 4 flats. The house is beautiful, it has a nice garden and surrounding, and the children loved the pool and the beach. Very, very good location, even our grandfather in wheelchair was able to visit the habour, the center and the beach. The owner Margarita took care of all our neds and she is very nice, helpfull and welcomming. We highly recomend the house - we had a lovely stay in Comillas.
