The accommodation

House on the pilgrim's way.

Preferably rented to older people. People: tidy, clean and responsible for the care of the house.
The house has two floors, 100 square metres each floor.
Description:
-Four equipped bedrooms and bathroom.
Fully equipped kitchen (with: wood-burning cooker for cooking and brand new electrical appliances).
-Living room and dining room also equipped.
-Garden, well - swimming pool, barbecue and large plot of land with trees.
-Wood and gas central heating.
-Fully equipped with kitchenware (sheets, towels)... washing machine, fridge, old kitchen with wood oven, cooker, microwave, two televisions, DVD, Internet Wifi.
-Pets are not allowed (neither dogs nor cats).

The location of the house is a few meters from the village, in the same municipality of Negreira, located specifically in a residential area of the village of Negreira (it is a very privileged village, as it is only 15 minutes from Santiago de Compostela and 15 minutes from the beaches.
The surroundings of the house offer tranquillity, a setting of great natural and artistic beauty and the services of being very close to Santiago de Compostela, the capital of Galicia.

Specifically, the house is in a privileged place for being located in the same way of Santiago, the stage Santiago-Fisterra (a few meters before the Municipal Hostel of Negreira, on the pilgrim's way itself). Therefore, we can see daily pass in front of the house a large number of pilgrims bound for Fisterra, it is an obligatory condition for pilgrims who are heading to Fisterra/Muxía.

Setting

We explain the specific situation of the HOUSE:

Leaving the centre of Negreira along the road to San Mauro (the old Camino Real), a street that pilgrims must follow, passing under the arch that connects the chapel, dating from the 18th century, with the Cotón manor house. We cross the river Barcala. Just after this we take the road that climbs up to Negreiroa (the small hamlet where the public albergue is located). On the same ascending road on the right we find our house, so the situation of the house is an obligatory condition of passage for a great number of pilgrims who pass by with destination Fisterra during the whole year. Concretely in the same corner of the house that is to say, to the right you have to ascend to pass next to the parish church of San Julián de Negreira that is behind our house (Km 1) This is the route that the pilgrims make towards Fisterra.

From the house you can walk to the centre of the village so it is not necessary to use the car and at the same time because of its tranquillity it seems to be further away from the centre than it really is.
Specifically, it is about 100 metres from the town centre where we find all the necessary services for day to day life: bank branches, town hall, numerous shops, supermarkets, petrol station, post office, health centre, chemists, public swimming pool, schools, children's playground, taxi rank, bus stop with very good communications to Santiago de Compostela and only 10 minutes from other neighbouring villages: Bertamiráns, Brión, etc.

In the immediate surroundings of the house there are numerous places, monuments and different pazos that embellish it, such as the Pazo del Cotón (symbol and most emblematic monument).

In addition to: cruceiros, churches such as San Julián de Negreira (20 metres from the house, just behind the house) hórreos and circular dovecotes.

Activities and attractions

Negreira is a natural area where the Camino de Santiago plays an important role and also stands out for the festivities of San Cristoval in July (they have an extensive entertainment programme) and in September the Romanesque Fair with numerous popular activities of the time.

Negreira has a high quality cuisine where you can enjoy typical dishes such as: roast veal, lamb chops, free-range chicken, pies and fish such as monkfish, hake and cod. The octopus a feira is one of the most popular dishes in the area. There are also typical desserts such as: almond cake, cream biscuits and Easter doughnuts.

Town centre of Negreira: (100 metres from the house) there are two monuments: one pays homage to the walker himself and the other is dedicated to the emigrant (remembering the emigration that took place in the municipality in the second half of the 19th century).

River Barcala river walk: (50 metres from the house) a two-kilometre river walk that links Negreira with the Cova refuge, starting in the town centre at Ponte Negreira. We find: numerous chestnut and oak woods. Also: picnic areas, wooden bridges, mills, leisure and recreational areas, in a well-preserved natural environment. In addition to: natural bathing areas, leisure area near the river (Covas refuge).

Ponte Maceira:(about 2 km from the house). Roman bridge over the river Tambre.

The river beach of Tapia: (less than 15 minutes by car from the house).the river Tambre is the protagonist: a reservoir aptly built next to an old mill, a great place for: bathing, sunbathing on the lawn, walking along stone paths, relaxing in the shade of the trees and enjoying the outdoor tables.there are canoeing courses for children - adults, various water sports, you can also go hiking. You can also enjoy swimming both in the pool and in the river.

Santiago de Compotela: (about 15 minutes from the house). City declared ‘World Heritage Site’ highlighting the Cathedral of Santiago.

Costa da Morte: (30 minutes from the house). Beautiful Galician coast with a formidable natural landscape.

Near the Galician coast of the Noia and Muros estuaries: (about 20 minutes from the house). We can enjoy: landscapes, beaches, estuaries, monuments. O Porto do Son, the coasts are full of steep cliffs over the sea, kilometric beaches, open and deserted.

Rias Baixas: (50 minutes from the house). We can enjoy the marvellous Galician coast and visit fishing villages enjoying the beaches such as Bayona.

La Coruña: (50 minutes from the house) we have the city of Hercules, with the Tower of Hercules declared a World Heritage Site, a beautiful and very stately city.
