Second, the name Rosetta also means “Little Rosa” and honors the maternal grandmother of the proprietor, Tommaso Pantè.

Setting

Location: Casetta Rosetta is located in a very quiet residential area on Via Calascione in the Borgo Antico, the name of the historic district in Milazzo. The town centre is only 200 metres (.1 mile) away. Markets, butchers, cafes (often called bars in Italy), restaurants, and a bakery are within easy walking distance. Several beaches are nearby: Spiaggia di Levante Beach - 500 metres (.3 mile); Spiaggia di Ponente Beach – 800 metres (.5 mile); and the Port for ferries to the Aeolian Islands – 1 kilometer (.6 mile)
Milazzo, called Mylai (“city of the sea”) in ancient times, has a population of about 35,000. While known primarily as the main port for travel to the Aeolian Islands, which lie only a few miles offshore, Milazzo is also close to other historical or cultural sites and is only 37.5 kilometres (23.3 miles) from Messina, the provincial capital. Trains and buses operate on regular schedules, and the closest airports are in Palermo and Catania.
