The Maiella National Park and 'definitely characterized by Maiella mountain which, while not the highest mountain range of Abruzzo, surpassed by the Gran Sasso mountain, however, remains the most impressive and most immanent of the Apennines, with over 60 peaks over 2,000 meters high.

Its size, its location and the fact of having a large part of the territory at high altitudes, the allow to have a content of biodiversity 'and a biogeographical value, clearly superior.
