The Gardener's cottage, atached to the housekeeper's homem, enjoys lovely views over the spectacular garden of the Manor House. The house has been sympathetically maintained and while the majority of the original features remain untouched, with an aristocratic flavour. The style of the bedrooms vary, with the wing offering traditional designs in the original house style. All en-suite bedrooms are located on the first floor and offer spectacular views towards the gardens or the natural park. Outside, this unique country villa is surrounded by different style gardens with dining furniture and a BBQ. You will deeply enjoy these open areas, specially designed for big groups al fresco dining on the warm Andalusia evenings! The terrace over the Italian fountain leads into large gardens which feature a private swimming pool. Ideal as a base for a family holiday in a rural setting, surrounded by nature, that offers a rural environment that allow a close contact with nature. A perfect place for walks, wild animals watching, learn about the spectacle of the bellowing of the deer, or spend a weekend relaxing with friends.
Explore the Hornachuelos Natural Park, discover its flora and fauna! Visit also Córdoba (45 minutes) or Seville (1,15 min drive), explore villages with astonishing charm such as Carmona or Écija. The area offers great typical restaurants and bars. Córdoba provides plenty of shops and places of historical interest. Several nature activities are located within an easy walk of our villa and offer fantastic nature entertainment. Perfect place to enjoy a peacefull stay, with family or friends, and paint, draw, birdwatch, or simply read!

Setting

The property is located in Hornachuelos Natural Park, 50 kms far from Córdoba in the drive to Sevilla. Only one hour to Seville and Córdoba. At the Sierra Morena of Cordoba, with a surface of 67,202 hectares, it is a wide protected environment, continued with the range nature reserves of Northern Seville and of Aracena (Huelva).
Its climate is warm and temperate (10-25º Celsius all over the year raising to 40º in summer), with draughts in the summer and a few scattered rains in the fall, winter and spring. The area offers great typical restaurants and bars. Córdoba provides plenty of shops and places of historical interest. Several nature activities are located within an easy walk of our villa and offer fantastic nature entertainment.
The park’s vegetation consists mainly of holmes and cork oaks; it constitutes the second most important Black Vulture refuge in Andalucía. These birds live together with the Tawny Vulture, the Imperial Eagle, as well as some Black Stork and Lynx specimens.
The Hornachuelos Mountain Range has traditionally been considered a singularly important hunting area both nationally and internationally, which makes hunting one of the main tourist resources in the zone. The hunting species par excellence are the deer and the wild boar; there is also a great number of rabbits, hares, partridges, pigeons, thrush and ringdove.
The Natural Park offers plenty of atractions, such as beautiful paths, bird and other wild life watching, sightseeing, horseriding, shooting, etc.

Activities and attractions

The property seats in the middle distance of the two main tourist cities in Andalusia: Seville and Cordoba, through 45 minutes drive to Cordoba and 1 hour to Seville Airport. Hornachuelos, a typical Andalusian village, is at 5 minutes drive from San Bernardo, providing various activities such as bicycle rentals, horse riding, water sports (kayak), water skiing en La Breña lake (20 min drive from hornachuelos), one of the best restaurants in the area La Taverna de Almodóvar del Río.
Within the nature reserve, a number of sites of historical interest attract international visitors. These include the old Monastery of Santa María de los Ángeles, where the masterwork of the Duke of Rivas, “Don Álvaro o la fuerza del sino” is set, and which would serve as inspiration to G. Verdi in composing his Opera: “La forza del destino” and the Carmelite Convent of San Calixto, where kings Baldwin and Fabiola of Belgium spent their honeymoon.
Turism and culture: Only 40 minutes car drive to Córdoba's world famous Mosque, 3/4 of an hour to Carmona or Écija, and fifty minutes to Sevilla Airport. 2 hours to Granada's Alhambra, 20 min to Almodovar del Río castle. Water activities at la Braña lake.
Inside the property, Shooting, day and night wildlife watching, trekking, family activities, painting, drawing, Reading... Nearby activities horse riding, sightseeing, visiting, bull fightings (seasonal), jogging, walking...Watersports (kayak, waterski...). Golf: A mountain golf course can be found at less than one hour drive from San Bernado. At Los Villares Golf Club (50 kms distance from the property) you will enjoy the lovely views of the region and a defeating golf course to beat!
Ski: If you are dreaming of white slopes under de sun, Sierra Nevada offers more than you can imagine. Two hours drive to Granada and half an hour more to reach the loveliest mountain you can imagine.
