The accommodation
Pretty, silent flat, located on the hill overlooking the little village of Aci Trezza, 700 metres from the rocky seaside. The hill is very quiet even in the month of August, and after a very short walk uphill you will enjoy the view of the coast, with the Lachea isle and the stacks, which shelter the natural sea reserve.
This small flat is ideal for a couple, but two more people can find accommodation on the sofa bed.
It is oriented north-east and consists in a living room with a double sofa bed, a master bedroom, kitchen with kitchenette and a full bathroom with shower. All rooms are equipped with fans and mosquito nets; wooden shutters and curtain panels ensure freshness. From the terrace (equipped with lights) you
can enjoy the show of the rising sun every morning, while staying in bed.
For leisure time to spend at home there is a small barbecue for cooking out and a small multilingual library with magazines, maps and leaflets on tourist attractions in Sicily.
We have chosen to share our quest of an environmentally friendly lifestyle with our guests. Hence the choice of fans, the reuse of objects, and the use of pottery instead of disposable dishes.
Setting
In Aci Trezza history starts with the legend of Cyclops and Galatea, and goes on up to Visconti's film 'La terra trema' ('The Earth Trembles'), 1948. You can rest in the tranquillity and quitness of the balcony looking at the sea, or you can go sight-seeing through the baroque churches and buildings of Acireale, or see the Romanic Mosaics in Piazza Armerina, or climb Mount Etna, or visit the Ursino Castle in Catania, or the Greek theatres in Taormina or in Syracuse... everything at a maximum of 90 minutes' drive from home!
Activities and attractions
In Aci Trezza itself you will find a marina, and hiking paths around Acireale and the mount Etna, with experienced guides ready to tour you around, and home-made ice-creams and patisserrie everywhere for a healthy snack! Catania has a beautiful promenade by the sea, and popular feasts in the villages around mount Etna and all along the coast.
You can enjoy the Taormina Film Festival, the Classical Theatre in Syracuse, and in March and April you will be able to go skiing in the morning and have a swim in the afternoon!

Perfect
We stayed in this lovely little town at the beginning of September and witnessed the craziness that was the festival of Madonna. Amazing fireworks and crazy procession of Madonna around the town. There are some pizza restaurants here and great granita cafes, try the pistachio and almond granita it is heavenly . The beach is not the greatest as it is rocky and a lttle grubby but we hired a scooter from Catania from 'ilmotonoleggio' and scooted around the North East and South East side of the island. There are some great beaches just North of Riposta that really are not too far to scooter too and in the South near Avola the nature reserve was great for snorkeling. Make sure that you go to Isle Bella by Taormina as it really is beautiful. The apartment itself was just perfect for our needs as a couple. We cooked amazing food many of the nights, ( the ingredients in the supermarkets and market stalls are to die for - you are in Sicily!) there is nothing better than buying seps at a roadside stall and making the most amazing risotto. After all of the food you will be happy to get done exercise climbing the hill to the apartment. It is quite a big Hill but on a scooter or in a car is fine and if is refreshing to walk up it occasionally. The hostess if the apartment is great and very accommodating. We needed a few things sorting when we arrived and she and her cousin were very helpful. Also if you bump into the neighbours of the apartment they are great too and always try to help where they can. We will definitely be going back to Sicily again, it is a perfect island with amazing food and people.
