Activities and attractions

Castiglioncello is a historic town also known as the ‘Pearl of the Tyrrhenian Sea’ from which one can visit the many attractions of the Etruscan Coast on the Tuscan coast. Castiglioncello is a fraction of Rosignano Marittimo, in the province of Livorno, a seaside resort known and favoured for the quality of its wild beaches and nightlife.
It is located on the Costa degli Etruschi, against the backdrop of the green hills of the Maremma that reach the sea with their cool pine forests and lush Mediterranean scrub, just off the coast.
In the 1960s, Dino Risi's film Il sorpasso was filmed here, and in a short time Castiglioncello became a well-known tourist destination for all the film stars who loved to meet here. But already in the 19th century, the Macchiaioli gathered here to paint the Tuscan coastal landscape, often as guests on the estate of the patron Diego Martelli.

Castiglioncello today is frequented by tourists and local residents who enjoy the tranquillity of the hidden coves during the day and the lively nightlife at night.
The best known beaches are Baia del Quercetano and Caletta beach, but it is also worth discovering the lesser-known corners of the coast such as the Fortullino cliffs, Baia dell'Arancio or Le Forbici beach. For those who love the wilder sea, the right place is Punta Righini. From here, the Alberto Sordi promenade leads to the Circolo Nautico di Castiglioncello.
