The accommodation

The nineteenth-century layout of the Villa is characterized by portals, windows, columns and porticoes, enriched by the presence of tuff (local material). The rooms are equipped with all comforts and furnished with traditional Sicilian furniture, with wooden roofs and a very large terrace from which you overlook the large garden of palm trees, citrus fruits and tropical plants with shaded paths and flower beds. Surrounded by greenery, a large and comfortable swimming pool which, if necessary, can be partially or completely covered with a telescopic structure, offering, even in the middle of winter, the possibility of enjoying unique and exclusive moments of well-being.

Setting

Villa Le Lune is a renovated late 19th century residence located in Sicily, in the countryside adjacent to the village of Santa Margherita di Belice. The celebrated Sicilian writer Tomasi di Lampedusa in his novel "The Leopard", called the village “Donnafugata”(escaped women) because Queen Maria Carolina of Austria took refuge there to escape the English. In the suggestive Palazzo Filangeri Cutò of S. Margherita di Belìce (built on the remains of an Arab fortress "Manzilsindi") which hosted her, many events told in the famous novel take place. The Tomasi Lampedusa family used to spend their holidays every year in the historic palace which inspired many pages and the representation of the places that are part the novels "Il Gattopardo" and "I Racconti".

A context rich in nature and culture discovering landscapes, stories and flavors full of strong emotions. From Villa Le Lune you can easily reach places of naturalistic and historical-archaeological interest. We are in the municipality of S.Margherita di Belice, in the province of Agrigento, close to the territories of the provinces of Trapani and Palermo and therefore in an ideal position for a tour throughout the western part of Sicily.
A few kilometers away, the sea (15km away from Porto Palo, province of Agrigento, a small fishing village) on the Sicilian coast overlooking Africa, along a picturesque sand coastline and lots of greenery. The beaches are public and are located in a context with few settlements, with landscape and naturalistic constraints (Belice Mouth Nature Reserve).

Public and private shuttle services are available to get to the sea from S. Margherita in a few minutes. Then, 10km away, the "Acqua Pia" spa, near the Belice river, where the water constantly flows at a temperature of 40 degrees in a natural context of rare beauty.

Nearby the same location, you can visit many places of artistic interest, such as the archaeological site of Selinunte (20km, province of Trapani), with its imposing Greek remains.
The excellent vineyards in the area, favored by well-exposed and particularly fertile soil, have given birth to prestigious wineries whose products have considerable success in Europe and around the world. The wines produced derive from fine vines such as: Inzolia, Chardonnay, Grecanico, Fiano, Grillo and Cataratto, for the whites and Nero d'Avola, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Nerello Mascalese, for the reds.
